I don't use this book because the titles of the recipes are in yellow and it is very hard to see them. I'm sure it's a great book, but I can't read it well. It was a long awaited cookbook when it came out, but overestimated. Read full review

Everything that I know about cooking comes from reading this comprehensive book. Full of a variety of recipes from the World over; Reichl goes a step further in this book by educating the reader on valuable preparation methods. For example, not knowing anything all about how to make the different types of pasta, Reichl's book makes learning these time honored traditions fairly simple! My favorite Recipes include: Spinach Gnocchi, Gnochetti, Stuffed Flank Steak, Malaysian Chicken Curry, eggplant parm, and pan seared Filet with cabernet sauce.Make no mistake about it, this is the Bible for us amateurs in the kitchen! This is not just for recipes, but also for learning about food history and the art of cooking.

Great Recipes! I especially loved the directions for cooking salmon on a bed of salt. This a great way to prepare a small piece of salmon, which is about all we can now afford.
However, I do not
understand why a light yellow color was used for the titles of recipes. It's almost as if the book intends to hide the recipe. I think the title should be in a "shout out" color, especially for those of us of a certain age. As we are likely to grow in number, I would suggest a more user friendly color and type for the titles in your next edition. I have the 2004 edition.
