1791. 1765 any deduction for batta, on bills of exchange, by regu lar monthly payments, amounting to Rs. 216,666-10-9 per month; the first payment to commence from the 1ft of September of the prefent year; and the Eng lish Company, in confideration of his Majefty's having been graciously pleased to grant them the dewannee of Bengal, etc. do engage themselves to be fecurity for the regular payment of the fame. fhall be paid month by month from the factory of Patna, to Rajah Shetabroy, or whomfoever his Majefty may think proper to nominate, that it may be forwarded by him to the court; but in case the teritories of the aforesaid Nabob should be invaded by any foreign enemy, a deduction is then to be made out of the ftipulated, revenue, proportionably to the damage that may be fuftained.

In confideration of Nudjuff Khawn's having joined the English forces, and acted in his Majesty's service in the late war, his Majefty will be graciously plea-fed to allow him the fum of two lacks of rupees a year, to be paid by equal monthly payments; the first payment to commence from the 1ft of September of the prefent year; and in default thereof, the English Company, who are gurantees for the fame, will make it good out of the revenue allotted to his Majefty from the territories of Bengal. If the territories of Bengal fhould at any Time be invaded, and on that account a deduction be made out of the royal revenue, in fuch cafe a proportionable deduction fhall also be made out of Nudjuff Khaw's allowance.

The King having been gracioully pleafed to grant the English company the dewannee of Bengal, Bahar, and Oriffa, with the revenues thereof, as a free gift for ever, on certain conditions, whereof one is, that there shall be a fufficient allowance out of the faid revenues for fupporting the expence of the Nizamut; be it known to all whom it may concern, that I do agree to accept of the annual fum of ficca rupees, 5,386,131-9-0 as an adequate allowance for the fupport of the Nizamut, which is to be regularly paid as follows, viz. the fum of ficca rupees 1,778,854-1-0 for my household expences, fervants, etc. and the remaining sum of rupees 3,607,277-8-0 for the maintenance of fuch horfe, feapoys, peons, bercundazes, etc. as may be thought neceflary for my Sewawry, and the fupport of my dignity only, fhould fuch an expence hereafter be thought neceffary to be kept up, but on no account ever to exeed that amount; and having a perfect reliance on Maeen al Dowlah, I defire he may have the difburfing of ruppees, 3,607,277-8-0 for the purposes before mentioned. This agreement, by the bleffing of God, I hope will be inviolably obferved, as long as the English company's factories continue in Bengal,

Nawab, high in station, famous as the Sun, Nawab Assuph Jau, Nizam ul Mulk, Nizam ul Dowla, Meer Nizam Ally Cawn Bahaudur, Futty Jung, Sepoy Sardar; and the Honourable English East India Company, Signed, Sealed and Ratified, on the one part, by his Highness, the said Nawab and on the other, by John Caillaud, Esq; Brigadier General, invested with full powers, on behalf of the said company, done at Hydrabad, the ninth of moon Gemadussany, in the year of Hegyra, 1180, equal to the 12th November, 1766.

ART. IV.

The reduction of the Siccacole Circar, by the Circar bleffing of God, the Company will effect as foon as poffible, but that of Murtezanagur, in confideration of his Highness having by former agreements given it to his brother Bazalet Jung, as a Jaghire, the Honourable English Eaft India Company do promise and engage, not to take poffeffion of, until it be His Highnele's pleasure, or until the demife of his said brother; but to prevent all future difputes, and difficulties that may hereafter arife concerning the fame, the aforefaid Company do further explain their intentions in the following Articles.

ART, V.

As the Circar of Murtezamagur borders on that of Quand Nizampatam and the country of the Carnatic, which là comp. by virtue of the former and prefent treaties and s'en em

1766 alliances, of the afore faid Company, are bound to maintain and protect in all its extent, therefore in cafe the faid Bazalet Jung, his Agents or Dependents, fhould cause any disturbances, to the prejudice thereof, it is hereby agreed on by both parties, that the aforesaid Company fhall then have it in their power to take immediate poffeffion of that Circar.

ART. VI.

As by the tenour of the second Article of this treaty, the aforefaid Company have engaged to furnish a body of troops, to be ready to march to Nawab, the affiftance of his Highness, it is agreed on, by both parties, that the expences thereof fhall be paid in the following manner, to wit: if the expence of the number of troops, his Highness may require, fhould fall fhort of the fum of the five lacks of Rupees, mentioned to be paid for the three Circars of Rajahmundry Ellour, and Muftephanagur, the company will account to his Highness, for what balance may remain due, and in cafe of exceeding the above mentioned fum, the aforefaid Company do hereby engage themselves, to be anfwerable for the payment of the remainder. The fame agreement in like manner to hold good, for the fums ftipulated to be paid, for the two Sircars of Siccacole and Murtezanagur, when fettled.

ART. VIII.
